L4-5 Laminectomy and Fusion

This stock medical exhibit depicts an L4-5 laminectomy and fusion procedure. The first illustration shows the re-opening of an old posterior incision, exposing the L3-S1 vertebrae. The second illustration shows a laminectomy performed at L5-S1 to further decompress the spinal cord and nerve roots. The third illustration shows the decorticating of the posterior elements of the L3-S1 vertebrae in preparation for bone graft. The fourth illustration shows the application of the cortico-cancellous bone graft to the decorticated areas to complete the fusion.
