Excision and Skin Grafting of the Hands

Excision and Skin Grafting of the Hands

This multi-part medical illustration exhibit depicts the surgical repair of burns on the hand using skin grafts. The grafting surgery begins by harvesting skin from the front of the thigh. Afterward, the skin is run through a meshing machine to prepare it for transplantation. Prior to grafting, the burned skin is removed from the hands. Finally the skin grafts are placed on the hands, kept in place with skin staples.
